after gina bressan (1910-1950) (master transcript)

This is a master copy of an artist I found and loved this particular image, Gina Bressan. Generally speaking I am not drawn to 1950s paintings but this one has something about it and I wanted to explore my painting technique along these lines for portraiture. 

Alongside painting from life, I was taught to make 'master transcripts' ie copying from master painters to understand their brushwork and expand my own practice. I keep them to learn from them but eventually run out of room and this one is definitely too lovely to paint over. So it forms part of my studio sale.
